Performance Counts
Building specifications and operation determines the building's performance. The EPA energy performance scale is determined using Portfolio Manager the benchmarking tool now being required by many municipalities nationwide including the City of Boston. With Benchmark Services the effectiveness of energy efficiency improvements can be tracked, and a building's performance can be compared against other buildings with similar operating conditions, regional weather data, and other important considerations. To qualify for the ENERGY STAR, a building must earn a 75 or higher on EPA's 1-100 energy performance scale, indicating that the facility performs better than at least 75% of similar buildings nationwide. Low Energy Design, inc. (fka effortless design, inc) managed the Energy Star Certification for the ecoNewBedford Project. Link to the Massachusetts New Homes with ENERGYSTAR listing for this project. LEED EBO&M is an alternative certification that requires benchmarking combined with the implementation and verification services Low Energy Design, Inc. provides. Our Auditing and Evaluation Services will propose alternative paths for the property owner to increase net operating income from energy cost savings having a positive impact on building valuation.
